Occupational Therapy Driving Assessment

• An Occupational Therapy Driving Assessment will determine your capacity to drive safely and legally, with your medical condition and/or disability.

• Assessment is available for people of any driving age, including learner drivers, drivers wishing to return to driving after an injury or medical diagnosis and aged drivers.

• An assessment vehicle with a range of driving modifications is available for clients requiring assessment for driving modifications.

• Assessment is available for all licence classes including motor car, heavy vehicle and motor cycle.

Specialised Driver Training and Lessons

• Specialised Driver Training is a speciality driver training service, where a disability trained driving instructor implements driver training programs, that are goal based and graded, to meet the learning needs of drivers with a physical and/or cognitive disability.

• Driver training programs are developed by the Occupational Therapist (following an Occupational Therapy Driving Assessment) and then implemented by the disability trained driving instructor.

• A training vehicle with a range of driving modifications is available for clients requiring training in the use of driving modifications.

• Funding applications (where suitable) are completed by the Occupational Therapist to support the costs of driving lessons to support your driving goals.

Assessment for Driving Modifications

• Road to Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy has an assessment and training vehicle available for client’s requiring assessment, prescription and training of driving modifications, including steering wheel aids, hand controls and a left foot accelerator to assist clients to achieve their driving independence.

• Customised solutions are also available for clients whose needs may not be met through standard driving modification or vehicle access solutions

• Funding applications (where suitable) are completed by the Occupational Therapist to support the costs of driving modification installation in your own vehicle.

Assessment for Vehicle Modifications

• Assessment, advice and prescription of vehicle access modifications including Wheelchair and/or mobility scooter stowage options and seating customisation.

• Wheelchair accessible vehicles for drivers and passengers

• Funding applications (where suitable) are completed by the Occupational Therapist to support the costs of vehicle modification installation in your own vehicle.
